Crucial Water Safety

Never pull out or adjust the crown while the watch is wet. Always ensure the crown is pushed completely in before exposing your watch to moisture.

Understanding Pressure: Water resistance relates to the static pressure a watch can withstand. However, moving the watch underwater increases the dynamic pressure against the seals. A watch marked "30M" may withstand rain, but not the forceful spray from a tap or swimming.

Showers & Baths: We strongly recommend against wearing any water-resistant watch in the shower or bath. High temperatures, steam, and condensation can rapidly degrade the rubber gaskets sealing the glass and case back.

Note: Water resistance is not permanent. Gaskets deteriorate over time. We recommend having your watch re-sealed and tested annually, or whenever the case is opened for servicing.

Temperature & Cleaning

Temperature Extremes: Do not expose the watch to direct sunlight or high temperatures for prolonged periods. This can cause malfunctioning, discolouration, and shorten the battery life.

Cleaning: Stainless steel cases and bracelets should be washed periodically in soapy water. Wipe well with a soft absorbent cloth and dry completely. (Ensure your watch is water-resistant before doing this. If you swim in saltwater, rinse in clean fresh water afterwards.)

Chemicals & Gases

Protect your watch from harsh substances. If chemicals come into contact with the watch, immediate discolouration or deterioration of the seals may occur.

Avoid contact with:

  • Perfumes & Spray Cosmetics
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • Adhesives, Paint, or Thinner
  • Fuel or Alcohol

Special Materials

Ion Plating (IP): Models with finishes like gold, rose gold, and slate use an Ion Plating process. Deep scratches or constant friction against hard surfaces may remove the top layer, exposing the base metal. This is normal wear and is not covered by the guarantee.

Tungsten & Ceramic: While highly scratch-resistant, these materials can chip or break on heavy impact against hard surfaces. Handle with care.

Leather Straps: Keep away from steam and water. Even on a water-resistant watch, leather will degrade quickly if used for swimming.

Health & Maintenance

Anti-Allergenic: All STORM watches conform to strict European standards for nickel safety. They are anti-allergenic. However, skin reactions may occur if dirt, chlorine, or sweat are not regularly cleaned from the watch backing.

Battery Replacement: Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself, as opening the case will compromise the water resistance seals. Always use a qualified watch repairer or the STORM Service Department.
